CHESTER & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE
CONSTITUTIONAL RULES
The combination of teams shall be called The Summer League or The Famous Grouse League.
- The League shall be governed by a Management Committee, which shall consist of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer & Competition Secretary.
- The League shall be open to all bona fide darts teams in Chester & District, and shall consist of one or more divisions, subject to Management Committee.
- The object of the League shall be a) to further the interest in darts, b) to promote League competitions amongst teams in our own area.
- An annual fee set by the committee will be levied on each team, such a fee to take account of play in League competition. b) Application for League membership shall be made on our official application forms, which can be obtained from the League Secretary. Such applications shall give the name, address & telephone number of the team Captain. All fees must accompany such application, and if not selected, returned. c) Any club leaving the League for one or more seasons shall be deemed a new club on re-applying for entry to the League.
- Teams intending to resign from the League must give four weeks notice, in writing to the League Secretary. No refund of fees will be given. Such teams shall not be entitled to re-election for one full season and will be deemed a new club.
- Electronic scoreboards may not be used to mark league or competition games.
- If five or more players move and leave no team at the pub/club who paid the league fees, this will be deemed a team move & their League status will be retained.
- All players must be registered on the official registration forms & returned to the League Secretary within the specified time. Failure to do this will result in two points being deducted each week that the form is late. The League to provide stamped, addressed envelopes to each team so this can be done. A player may only register for, and play for one team. No new players after the first half of the season.
- A Licensee with two teams in the League may register for both teams, but play for only one team each night.
- No transfers after six weeks. A fee of one pound to be paid to the League Secretary, who must receive the application form, in writing, seven clear days before a player is eligible to play. Only one transfer per player per season.
- Any protest or objection must be lodged, in writing, with the League Secretary within 72 hours of the completion of the match. Together with the sum of £5, which shall, subject to the Committee’s discretion, is forfeited in the event of any such protest or objection not being sustained.
- Any club playing an ineligible player shall be a) Fined the sum, not exceeding £5, b) Have two points deducted (or both) subject to the Committee’s discretion. Points may be awarded to opposing team. If, in the opinion of the Committee, the breach of this rule is due to the said player, the Committee reserves the right to a) Fine the player the sum, not exceeding £5, b) suspend the player for a period, not exceeding one month, or both.
- The winning team Captain or secretary, shall forward to the League Secretary, at the completion of each match, the result of such match, duly signed by him and countersigned, by the visiting team within five days of the match. Any Captain failing to carry this out, the game will be deemed null & void. This rule will be strictly adhered to.
- There will be no re-arranged games without the League Secretary’s agreement. This will only be given in extenuating circumstances. If a football match, shown on a big screen, prevents the darts match from being played, the match may be moved to another night of the same week as long as the League Secretary receives the result card within the five days allowed.
- Any team failing to complete a fixture, points will be awarded to the opposing team.
- The Committee will deal with any registered player guilty of misconduct.
- a) Time of start no later than 8.45pm b) after previous player, only five minutes allowed between games, with 15 minutes, maximum between the fifth & sixth game. c) Away Captain to nominate first, third, fifth, seventh & ninth player. Home Captain to nominate the second, fourth, sixth & eighth player. d) Away player to throw first for bull. Straight start, double finish. e) Seven single games of 501 to be played first, then two double games of 701.
One meeting to be held each year to cover both the Summer & the Winter Leagues and will be called the Annual General Meeting. Any team wishing to make a proposal at this meeting must put the proposal in writing to the League Secretary six weeks before the date of the A.G.M.
